Lahore return back to losing ways and suffered embarrassing 71-runs defeats against Islamabad.

Lahore displayed a marvelous show against the defending champion Quetta Gladiator in the previous match of HBL PSL-V, all phrases for Ben Dunk and Samit Patel. Qalandar’s fans were expecting the same performance from them in this fixture against Islamabad.

But Lahore returns back to losing ways and suffered embarrassing 71-runs defeat. It is a huge and embarrassing defeat in PSL history and the second-lowest of this season.

Match Summary

Lahore won the toss and that’s the only thing they won in the 17th match of HBL PSL-V.

As they won the toss and decided to bowl first. Islamabad united openers start the match impressively with smashing boundaries Luke Ronchi and Colin Munro opening partnership lasts 103.

The hero of the last match Samit Patel in his 2nd over faced hits from openers and cost 22 runs in an over.

Then Professor strikes and broke the partnership on the very first ball of the over, he took Ronchi wicket when Ronchi was just two runs away from his 50. Ronchi scored 48 off 31 balls.

The skipper Shadab didn’t score well in this match and scored just 7 runs.

Salman Irshad sent back Colin Ingram to the pavilion when Islamabad was at the score of 159 with

the loss of 2 wickets in 17.2 overs. Ingram scored 29 off 18.

Asif Ali scored 20 off 6 balls while Munro was exceptional last night with unbeaten at 87 off 59.

Shaheen Shah Afridi was injured and didn’t take part in this game against Islamabad, maybe his presence and pace could help Lahore to restrict Islamabad below 150.

Islamabad ended their innings with the score of 198/3 in 20 overs.

Chasing the huge target of 198 Lahore’s start was shaking as they lost their main and first wicket of Chris Lynn at the score of Zero. Dale Steyn was the one who sent him back to the pavilion without even scoring a single run.

Lost 2nd wicket at the score of 16. Ben Dunk and Salman Butt somehow managed to complete 50 runs for Lahore but soon the United skipper Shadab took Ben dunk wicket, dunk score 25 off 14. In next over Butt followed Dunk and got out at 21 off 23 balls courtesy Zafar, its Zafar’s first wicket of HBL PSL later number increases and turned to 3 as he sent three batsmen to pavilion.

Lahore was in trouble as they have to chase the big total of  198 runs which seems impossible. Ruman Raees strikes and took two wickets in an over and Lahore were with 89/9 in 15th overs.

Usman Shinwari and Dilbar hit a few sixes but that couldn’t help Qalandar and Qalandars were all out for 127 with seven balls in spare.

Colin Munro declared as player of the match for his smashing innings of 87 off 59 balls and was unbeaten.

Islamabad United is back on the second place from four in point table with an exceptional win against Lahore Qalandars. Secured 7 points in 3 wins out of seven, while Lahore remained on the bottom with two points and just one win in five matches.
