Ehsaas Kafaalat Program is launched to eradicate poverty from the root. Poverty is one of the major social dilemmas being faced by Pakistan. At a time when people are under the strain of price hikes every day, PTI government initiative to expand the horizons of its flagship Ehsaas Program is really revitalizing for the individuals living under the subsistence level.

ON 31 January, Friday Prime Minister Imran Khan launched the ‘Ehsaas Kafaalat Program’.

At the launching ceremony, PM Imran Khan addressed the participants at the event and said that the program is aimed for merit-based financial assistance of poor and deserving women throughout the country. He also said that it is the state’s responsibility to assist the needy people of our society. “No society can develop where elite prospers at the expense of a sea of poor people.” He said.

Ehsaas Kafaalat Program Registration Centers Of The First Phase

The Ehsaas Kafaalat Program has been launched by the government of Pakistan to assist financially the poor women by giving them a fixed stipend of Rs 2000/- per month across the country. All the existing beneficiaries of the Benazir Income Support Program will continue to be part of the Ehsaas Kafaalat program if they are still meeting the eligibility criteria. The beneficiaries under the program will also be able to get interest free loans up to Rs 75,000/- and also other facilities in the upcoming phases.

In the first phase of the program, one million families in 70 districts are enrolled, as said by an official of Social Protection and Poverty Alleviation Division. The enrolled women will start receiving their stipends from February onwards. Under the Ehsaas Kafaalat Program, more beneficiaries will be added through desk registration over the coming year. Around 7 million destitute and needy women are expected to be part of the program.

Registration centers have been created in the following 15 districts across the country, as the first phase commences:

2) Bahawalpur

3) Faisalabad

4) Layyah

5) Lucky Marwat

6) Charsada

7) Hurry Pur

8) Muhmand

9) Thatta

10) Sajawal

11) Jekababad

12) Sukkur

13) Qilla Saifullah

14) Keech

15) Naseerabad

The government has tried to make at least one registration center in every tehsil of the country. To ensure the eligibility NADRA registration centers are established.

Ehsaas Kafalat Beneficiaries Identification

Household survey (door to door digital survey) is the approach being used to identify the eligible candidates for the program and also Ehsaas NADRA Registration Desks assisted by SMS and Kafaalat web-service is being used.

Eligible Candidates

Only the needy and destitute women are eligible under the Ehsaas Kafaalat Program. Data analytics is being used to exclude individuals if they are government servants their spouses, car owners, taxpayers and people who have a history of foreign travels.

Payment Method

Transparency in payments is ensured by the new biometric Ehsaas Digital Payment System.

The women enrolled in the Ehsaas Kafaalat Program will have their own bank accounts and biometric-enabled ATMs, through which they can easily draw money from any Point of Sales Agents (POS), dedicated branches and ATM of two banks i.e. Habib Bank Limited and Alfalah Bank which will enable them to get the money themselves and avoid any kind sale agent’s exploitation.

Dedicated Bank branches have been established for the program beneficiaries and also biometrically enabled ATMs have been opened across the country.
