Ehsaas Amdan Program
Ehsaas Amdan Program is another program being launched after the Ehsaas Kafalat Program under the umbrella of Ehsaas. The program aims at creating honorable livelihood opportunities for the underprivileged and downtrodden segments of society.
Ehsaas Amdan Program is a four-year program from 2020 to 2023. The program has a budget of Rs 15 billion and it will impact the lives of around 1.4 million people in the country
Under the program, small assets are being given to people below the poverty line. Assets include livestock, the body of qingqi rickshaw, agriculture inputs and small retail outlets and small enterprises.
The Ehsaas Amdan Program will benefit 60% of women and 30% of youth. Under this program, 200,000 assets will be distributed to deserving households. The scale of the program will be enhanced depending upon the results.
Women will be given one cow, one buffalo and three goats so they can run their households with their produce as a mother can lift up an entire house from poverty.
Interest-free loans to around 80,000 people will be given every month under the program by the government. 50,000 students from the downtrodden section of society will be awarded scholarships for undergraduate studies every year.
Beneficiaries Identification
Beneficiaries are identified through a community engagement process in the 375 Union councils and villages of 23 districts where this program has begun
Ehsaas Kafalat Program and Ehsaas Amdan Program are under the umbrella of Ehsaas. Under Ehsaas Kafalat Program monthly cash stipends of Rs 2000 will be given to the underprivileged seven million women from across the country. Ehsaas Kafalat Program commenced from January 31, 2020.
The beneficiaries of both Ehsaas Amdan and Ehsaas Kafalat Program are identified through a door to door survey using the poverty scorecard so that only the most deserving persons are identified for inclusion in the program.
Vocational Training
The Pakistan Poverty Alleviation Fund (PPAF) is the agency leading the Ehsaas Amdan Program through the community procurement process established by PPAF.
The processes established by PPAF ensure transparency and accountability in the identification, selection and acquisition of all assets and vocational skills training.
The beneficiaries of the Ehsaas Amdan Program who require vocational training are offered certified technical training institutes so that they can attend courses. Beneficiaries are also trained on asset and
business planning to help the beneficiaries to turn the asset into economically productive businesses.
