KARACHI: Engro Corporation has temporarily closed its office in Karachi as one of the employees was tested positive for coronavirus.
As a precautionary measure because the novel coronavirus is spreading rapidly. All Engro offices in Karachi at The Harbour Front Building (THF) will remain close for 3 days from 11 March to 13 March and the office will resume from March 16, 2020, i.e. Monday.
Engro Corp Karachi Office Closed as Employee Gets Infected with COVID-19. The decision was taken on the basis of medical advice from the doctors and with the consultation of other health specialties.
All employees will work from home and upon their return on Monday, they will be screened for the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) as a precaution.
A statement was issued by Engro corporation’s head office which stated that at 01:00 pm On Tuesday, the company was informed that an employee has been diagnosed with the deadly coronavirus, COVID-19.
The employee was from the 8th-floor office of The Harbour Front Building (THF).
On Friday, March 6th, 2020 the employee came to the office for only a few hours and left the building on his own accord, according to the company’s spokesperson.
The spokesperson also briefed that it is not known, if the patient is in self-quarantine at home or is admitted to a hospital.
The company also informed its employees to monitor their health for the next two weeks. If they develop any flu-like symptoms, then they should contact the doctor immediately for health advice.
In the meantime, the company will make sure that the office is fully disinfected of The Harbour Front (THF) Building.
The notice also stated that “One of Pakistan’s leading infectious diseases specialists has indicated that exposure to the infected person of more than 15 minutes and a distance of more than 15 minutes and at a distance of less than one meter may make one susceptible to contracting the virus.”
Karachi site office of Engro corporation is located in The Harbour Front Building (THF), having 17 floors and has an area of over 246,000 square feet office space. The building houses other corporations such as Procter & Gamble, Phillip Morris and Byco.
