It was reported by the parliamentarians of the ruling conservative party in UK that they have re-launched the previously closed group of “The Conservative Group of Kashmir”. The news was reported via Twitter.
“We have relaunched. We campaign for self-determination and an end to human rights abuses in Kashmir and Jammu. There is growing support for our cause amongst Conservative MPs and activists. Follow us and our work!” said The Conservative Friends of Kashmir
on their new Twitter account.
Sardar Masood Khan, The president of Azad Jammu and Kashmir welcomed the group and also endorsed its statement. “We are immensely grateful to you for re-launching the Conservative Friends of Kashmir. Your voices shine ray of hope to the wounded Kashmiris in their darkest hours. Besieged, battered, disfranchised — they look towards you and your allies for justice,” said the President AJK on his Twitter handle.
This group of seven MPs are from constituencies that include a significant number of Pakistani voters. The Tory MPs in the group include Paul Bristow, James Daly, Jack Brereton, Steve Baker, Mark Eastwood, Sarah Britcliffe, and Antony Higginbotham.
Bhand RSS and other Indian communities have reacted to the step. It has sparked rage amongst Tory-supporting British Indians who mainly consist of the extremist Hindutva groups such as RSS. A group of BJP in London was the first to react on this re-launch. The president of the Overseas Friends of BJP (UK), Kuldeep Shekhawat, said, “Britain has no right to interfere in India’s internal matters.”
Pakistan on the other end has welcomed the step and are aware of the importance. This would help raising voice against atrocities of Indian Army in the Indian Occupied Kashmir.
It shows that the Pakistani community in the UK is actively supporting the Kashmir cause. Pakistan’s PM Imran Khan’s stance has clearly re-activated the struggles within Kashmir and throughout the world.
We as Pakistanis are with Kashmir and will keep supporting them whenever and wherever needed. What are your thoughts? Do share with us in the comments below.
