Google Launches Distance Learning Portal

As educational institutions like schools, colleges, academies, and universities remain closed across the world due to the coronavirus pandemic. So, Google launches a distance learning portal to help teachers name ‘Teach from Home’.

On the other hand, home-based learning is gaining increasing popularity during this COVID-19 pandemic.

To make sure that students and teachers both are able to solve this problem, Google has come up with a new distance learning source hub, ‘Teach From Home’.

The portal features educational material, information, tips, training, and tools from across Google

What Teach from home resource hub offers:

  • A collection of training materials on how to get started.
  • Best practices for conducting lessons with or without video call capability.
  • Tips on engagement and community building.
  • A downloadable step-by-step Teach from Home Toolkit

Program manager of google education team said:

“Every day, more and more educators are being asked to teach from home but you are not alone.

We created this hub of resources to support you if you are an educator that is being asked to teach remotely.

and we hope the teach from the home side becomes a place that you can learn about different ways to deliver a remote learning experience to your students. We will introduce more content related to distance learning.”

To provide further support to distance learning, Google has made premium Google Meet video conferencing features free for educational institutions until 30 September 2020.

This includes the capability to have 250 people in a call together, record lessons, and live stream.

“Productivity suite G Suite for Education is free for all eligible educational institutions,” read a press release from the tech giant.

The Teach from Home Toolkit is available in English and 18 different languages. In the coming days, the kit will be updated with more languages.

Tech from home will help educators and students to continue their studies without any risk during this pandemic.
