For the first time in the history of the Islamic Republic of Iran, the outraged protesters have refused to walk over the U.S and Israel’s flag while marching on the streets of Tehran. The Persians are disappointed since the IRGC made an unsuccessful attempt of taking revenge on Gen. Soleimani’s killing, by targeting the largest U.S Military Base in Iraq, causing no casualties or any serious damage.
While the Iranian Military may have failed to cause any damage to the Americans, they still (“unintentionally”) succeded in downing Ukrainian passenger plane (Boeing 737-NG) which was carrying 82 Iranian citizens and over 60 Canadians along with a notable number of other nationals including; Afghans, Germans and even British – the incident saw a total of 176 deaths. This led to the return of the dark clouds on the Ayatollah regime.
The Islamic Republic of Iran is currently facing a flood of challenges. The country is facing a diplomatic crisis, military instability and a wave of country-wide protests against; the hike in fuel prices, rising unemployment rate, and increasing dictatorship. The people of Iran are unable to afford a living wage despite having world’s one of the largest oil and natural gas reserves.
At this point, the Iranian government needs to realize that the interior threat is now far greater than the exteriors – especially in the presence of conspirators in the shape of American and British Ambassadors in Tehran. The Ayatollah regime must not forget that the people of Iran have had taken down a similar regime before and they can unite against the current as well, and if the reforms are further delayed, a regime change would be certain.
The U.S. President Trump tweeted in Persian claiming to “have been standing with the brave and suffering people of Iran since the beginning of his presidential period” and that “the government will stand with them while following the protests very closely.”
The tweet gained over 2,000,00 Likes, making the most liked Persian tweet in the history of Twitter.
How can Iran Save the Day?
• Iran should work on re-establishing its ties with the United States and President Trump would be the best to begin negotiating with.
• Iran must respect the Nuclear pact as agreed with the Obama Administration and the European states.
• The Ayatollah Regime must introduce political reforms that should largely benefit democracy.
• The people of Iran should be provided with economic relief even if it requires eliminating the government’s lavish status.
• President Hassan Rouhani is also supposed to fulfill all the promises he made before coming into power.
Does Iran need to compromise on its Foreign Policy?
The Islamic Republic of Iran can still have the right to continue its battle against Zionism by criticizing Israeli and American administrations’ flawed intentions.
Such foreign policy will not keep Iran from developing trade relations with the rest of the world.
The U.S should also soften its policies towards Iran before inviting them to negotiations. A relation between the U.S and Iran, based on mutual trust and gains has become the need of the hour for world peace.
