The Federal Minister for Planning and Development Asad Umar announced that countrywide lockdown is extended till May 9th.
The minister said that the National Coordination Committee (NCC) decided to extend the lockdown till May 9th in a meeting held at the National Command and Control Centre (NCOC).
The NCC was about to start the implementation of the trace and track system from tomorrow he said,
“Consultations were detained with chief secretaries and health ministers at the NCOC. The prime minister has given approval for the system.”

The top body of the NCC will supervise the trace and track system but the provincial governments, information technology institutions, civil and military organizations will be involved in the process as well.

“This is a complete national response prepared by the government,” he said.
Though adding that the provincial governments will be accountable mainly for the implementation of the system.
“We are trying to predict what this infection’s spread will be through consultations with data scientists and experts.”
Ramadan will be pivotal in deciding track of coronavirus cases
Asad Umar said that the Holy month of Ramadan will be pivotal in deciding Pakistan’s track of coronavirus cases.
He urged the nation to take all necessary precautions that have been recommended by doctors and authorities.
And avoid the potential risks and unnecessary outing during Ramadan so the restrictions could be eased by Eid-ul-Fitr.
“However, God forbid, if we show carelessness, then we may have to enforce more restrictions after Eid,”
He said there will be no load-shedding at the time of Sehar and Iftar in any part of the country.
The minister said that if people practiced the given safety precautions during the holy month of Ramadan, then it would allow business and all other activities to inch towards normality.
Generally, we as a nation had made a lot of changes to our social life ever since the lockdown was imposed.
He further said that the Covid-19 testing limit throughout the nation is being ramped up.
So far 5.7 million families have been given monetary aid under the Ehsaas Program.
At the end of the press briefing, He wished the nation a happy, safe, and blessed Ramadan.
